  1. What is ShyMail? 

    ShyMail is a free Web-based e-mail provider. It is one of the world's largest!  It's premise is base on the assumption that e-mail access should be easy and accessible from any computer connected to the Internet. ShyMail eliminates  the disparities that exist between different e-mail programs by adhering to the universal Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) standard. Retrieving and receiving e-mail from ShyMail is as easy as going to the ShyMail Web site at http://www.shymail.com/, signing in, and sending an  e-mail message. ShyMail brings your personal information  to you in a worldwide retrievable form by using a Web browser as a universal e-mail program,

  2. How is ShyMail different than e-mail?

    Internet Service Providers (ISPs) requires the use of a properly configured e-mail program
    A member needs proprietary CompuServe or AOL® software to access email provided by these services. Their systems  require the use of proprietary client software are inherently limited and closed. Their services email access is not worldwide and very difficult to access with any mode of traveling.

    Open Web-based technology is Shymail premise. Web-based Shymail offers: cross-platform email solution and world wide access. It is more reasonable than the traditional email program and a Web browser is the only software needed. The Web browser, which is more worldwide available than any proprietary e-mail program,  is used for email sent from and received by ShyMail.

  5. Can I use ShyMail anywhere?

    Shymail can be used anywhere, from any computer with internet access. Remote access to Shymail is made very easy by the wide spread use of kiosks and public internet connects in numerous places from airports to cafes.

  6. Can I use the existing Internet software on my computer?

    Yes. All you need  is access to the internet and a web browser installed on your computer We recommend using the newest version of Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator for best viewing results. No proprietary software is required with Shymail.

  7. I already have an e-mail address, why would I use ShyMail?

  8. Can I check my corporate e-mail using ShyMail?

    Yes.  Shymail not only have a personal address book but a very easy method for adding email addresses.

  10. Can I put URLs into my e-mail?

    Yes. By typing the complete address (such as  http://www.shymail.com/,) in the text box on the Compose page you can create a link to any valid Web page or e-mail address. ShyMail will automatically creates the link to this address. When the recipient receives your message, the address appears as a link that he/she can click  to send a message to go directly to the Web site.

  11. Can everyone in my family have his or her own e-mail address?

    Yes.. Just go to the ShyMail Web site http://www.ShyMail.com and every member of your family create a personal account for himself or herself. We encourage families to sign up for an account for each family member who will be using ShyMail.since Shymail does not allow account sharing.

  12. Is my e-mail private?

    Shymail strongly believe and it is our policy to protect the privacy of email passed between the sender and the recipient. ShyMail will not disclose, monitor, or edit the contents of a member's private communications unless required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (1) comply with legal process conform to the edicts of the law or  served on ShyMail; (2)  the rights or property of ShyMail are protected and defended; or (3) act  to protect the personal safety of its members or the public. under exigent circumstances

  13. Can I attach files to my e-mail messages?

    Yes. You can easily send attachments using ShyMail.under the circumstance that your web browser such as
    Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator and various other web browsers support the attachment of files.

  14. Can I receive attachments at my ShyMail address?

    Yes.   Whenever, attachments are sent to Shymail account they can downloaded to your own personal computers by the click of a button! Your broswer windows automically display some things such as GIF and JPEG images and HTML files

  15. Can I use ShyMail as a business address?

    No. A Shymail address is not primarily  used a business address unless you already have a email address provided by your company and you would like to send and retrieve email while away from your office computer.

    Example of Prohibited Use:
    You are business owner. Rather than registering and administering your account through a paid ISP you and your employees are encouraged to use Shymail accounts.

    Example of Allowed Use:
    You are a frequent business traveler. You have an account with your company (yourname@yourcompany.com).
    You will be able to read and send solicited messages while you are traveling through the use of your Shymail account.

    ShyMail prohibits account sharing.
    Each individual is able to sign up for his or her own personal account since Shymail is accessible worldwide. It is required that every ShyMail member must sign up for and have his or her own e-mail account because sharing a single account can easily compromise the security and privacy of your email.

  16. What software do I need to use ShyMail?

    The only software required is a Web browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 or later or Netscape Navigator 3.0 or later, these particular browsers supports the nested table and graphics that are needed. Be careful of Text-based browsers, such as Lynx, these type of browsers do not meet our requirements. Want a even more fulfilling experience? ShyMail recommends that you use a Web browser that also supports JavaScript™, cookies, etc...

  18. I'm already a ShyMail member, but I forgot my password. What can I do?

  19. Does ShyMail sell its membership list?

    Rest assure, Shymail does not maintain and sell it's email lists! Shymail keeps everything private, this includes all individual member information, including the e-mail addresses of its members.

  20. How much junk e-mail (aka "spam") will I receive?

    Shymail doe not support or condone junk email though our system. If you ever  receive unsolicited e-mail, to include a complete copy of the message, including the full message headers and   report it to abuse@ShyMail.com
    The ShyMail Terms of Services (T&C) strictly forbids sending unsolicited e-mail and action is taken by terminating all reported accounts that are in violation of the T&C).

  21. Does ShyMail host personal Web pages or business Web sites?

  22. Why does ShyMail ask for personal information?

    Profile information is needed with Shymail to display appropriate, individualized advertising banners. We like to display advertisements that are more likely to be of interest to you. For example, if you are an insurance agent, you may be interested in advertisement for books on sales reports. Shymail does not disclose your personal data to any advertisers.

    Another reason personal information is needed is in case you forget your password. If this happens, in order to regain access to your account, we would need you to confirm your personal information with one of our Customer Service Representatives

  23. Do I have to have an Internet connection to use ShyMail?

    Yes. Shymail is a site on the Internet, but you can not directly dial into Shymail without internet access.

  24. How much e-mail storage space do I get with ShyMail?

    At this time, ShyMail currently offers 2500KB of storage space. It is important to state, in the rare event that you do go over 2500KB of storage space ShyMail may need to remove some messages.

  25. When will my ShyMail account be marked "inactive," and what does this mean to me?  

    Your account will be marked "inactive." if you do not sign-in on your Shymail account within the first 10 days, and currently, if you do not sign-in 60 days.
